Self limiting beliefs

Abstract

Anyone can draw, the art of self limiting beliefs. Self-limiting beliefs are those things you believe about yourself that place limitations on your abilities. They may be conscious or unconscious. They may be founded or unfounded.

Description

Limitations are actually a thing of the mind. In reality we have none. You can do anything if you make up your mind to do it. Determination always finds a way around obstacles. Henry Ford once said, “If you think you can…. or if you think you can’t…you’re right!” It all depends on what you believe about yourself.

How do they work?
Our thoughts and beliefs colour our vision and perception of the world. They determine our actions or inactions. Thoughts affect feelings. Feelings affect behaviour. Behaviour produces results (or the lack of them). It all begins with our thoughts, since we have to accept a thought for it to become a belief.
This course will support you in overcoming your self beliefs through the medium of art.

Doubting your ability to learn and develop is a common theme in human behaviour; I can’t do this or that. These behaviours are often learnt and the result is a reluctance to try new endeavours for fear of failure. This is never more evident in a significant percentage of the population commenting: “I can’t draw”.

Anyone can draw! This is the art of challenging self limiting beliefs.

When you know where and when you learnt your limiting belief you can start to learn the principles of drawing. As an introduction to the concept on this one day course you will find out about how learning to draw can be achieved in 6 easy steps.
1) Edges (the shared borders between two aspects of your subject).
2) Spaces (how the negative can make a positive).
3) Relationships (perspective and proportion).
4) Light and shade (the concept of highlighting and shading).
5) The power of colour
6) The whole (the ability to see the big picture).

There is also the option of a one week residential programme. phone 01239 711799 and speak to Peter Mayes for more details
