Managing life balance is one of today’s major challenges, but well worth the effort, as being out of balance can affect our health, well being and performance. People out of balance tend to suffer from stress and this can be displayed in many ways through ill health, frustration, guilt, lack of focus, poor sleep and eating habits to name just a few.
Life balance is about adjusting our lives to enable us to take care of all those areas that are important to us such as family, friends, work, learning and growth and ourselves.
Regardless of age, race, disability or gender, everyone can find a rhythm to help them combine these different elements to acknowledge responsibilities or reach aspirations.
Life Balance does not mean an equal balance in all areas. Trying to schedule an equal number of hours for each of our various work and personal activities is usually unrewarding and unrealistic. Life is and should be more fluid than that.
Also individual life balance will vary over time, the right balance for you today maybe different for you tomorrow. The right balance for you when you are single will be different when you marry, or if you have children; when you start a new career versus when you are nearing retirement. There is no perfect “one-size fits all” balance you should be striving for. The best life balance is different for each of us because we all have different priorities and different needs.
